About this book:
This book, together with another book we offer, probably comes from the artist's studio.
A number of elements point in that direction.
Both books have been acquired together. On different pages there are ink and paint spots or small pencil marks.
The most significant however is the pencil sketch and the shorthand text at the back of this book. Possibly it concerns the design of an ex libris for a member of the Gerner family descended from noble ancestors. The sketch is based on a family crest from 1549.
Those who can read German steno will probably find out more.
A document dated 1886 from the Heidelberg University that was found in the book is also included.
