Ondreička's endless stories
The bookplates of Ondreička do not simply tell something about the client.
Mostly they also tell a story. This artist does not use much heavy lines in his drawings. He prefers to draw a lot of very subtle lines. For expressing the main subject of the bookplate he makes use of dark lines and bright surfaces while the goal of the very light and fine lines is filling the background, it appears. However this background is more than it pretends to be. Take a strong magnifier and examine carefully its grey tones. They will reveal a vivid and sometimes chaotic world full of stories. The longer you look, the more details you will find, as shown by some blow-ups below. Finally, when you think that you have seen all particularities of a certain bookplate, don't be surprised if you still discover other ones. Enjoy the pictures. |
