The largest number (usually the denominator of the fracture) tells how large the edition was.
The smallest one (the nominator) tells the sequence number of the print. Some people consider the number 1 of the edition as having a higher value but this is a subjective matter, not a matter of quality. The smaller the edition was, the higher the value of the bookplate will be. |

Some artists do not number their prints. In this case one does not know how large was the edition, which reduces the value of the bookplate.
